Bandai Namco has released a new patch for Tekken 8 to adjust character models. |
Bandai Namco has released a new update for its fighting game sensation, Tekken 8, that addresses a bug that had been a major talking point within the community. Patch v2.05 focuses on several bug fixes and character adjustments, most notably correcting an issue where a number of female characters had their body parameters unintentionally made uniform, specifically in the chest area.
The issue, which became widely noticed after the release of the "Beach Fun Pack" swimsuit DLC, resulted in many female fighters having identical bust sizes. This led to online discussions and criticism from some players who felt it detracted from the characters' unique designs. According to a statement from Tekken franchise director Katsuhiro Harada on social media, the issue was an unintended bug. The new patch, therefore, "correct[s] an issue where identical chest parameters had been applied across certain characters," ensuring that each fighter's distinctive proportions are now properly reflected.
In addition to the widespread fix, the update also specifically targets the character Asuka Kazama. Since the launch of Tekken 8, some fans had pointed out that Asuka's in-game model featured broader shoulders and a thicker neck, giving her a more muscular appearance than in previous installments. Harada confirmed that the development team is aware of the feedback and has begun the process of adjusting her model to align more with her past looks. The v2.05 update makes "limited adjustments" to her shoulders, upper arms, and neck, with a plan for gradual refinements in future patches to avoid any instability with her customisation options.
While the primary focus of this update is on character models and bug fixes, the patch also introduces several quality-of-life improvements. It adds a long-requested character win-rate feature to the Ranked Match mode, allowing players to better track their performance against individual fighters. This shows Bandai Namco's commitment to both the competitive integrity and player feedback for Tekken 8 as it continues to evolve post-launch.
